What Free is great for

Install on Android
- Download the APK to your Android phone (or transfer it from a PC).
- Open the file. If Android warns about an unknown source, tap Settings → enable Install unknown apps for your browser or file manager.
- Tap Install, then Open.
- On the welcome screen, follow the disclosure and accessibility setup. PhoneAgent only acts when you give it a task.
Permissions for full control
For autonomous tasks that keep running across apps, grant these when prompted:
- Accessibility — lets the agent tap, swipe, and type (Android 13+: see the note below).
- Screen recording — gives the agent vision of the current screen. Approved per session.
- Display over other apps — shows the floating control bar (grab-to-move Stop / Pause / Steer) on top of any app, and keeps the screen awake so a task is never cut short by the screensaver.
In-place updates keep your API keys and settings. Sideload builds notify you when a new version is available.
Android 13+ note
Android 13 and later restrict accessibility for sideloaded apps. If PhoneAgent appears greyed out in
Accessibility settings, do this once:
- Open Settings → Apps → PhoneAgent.
- Tap the ⋮ menu in the top right.
- Tap Allow restricted settings.
- Return to Settings → Accessibility → PhoneAgent and enable it.
What you need (Android)
- Android 8.0 (Oreo) or newer
- An API key from one of: Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Gemini, or Groq (Groq has a free tier — 14,400 requests/day)
- About 120 MB of free storage
